The Italian Studies program aims to train young researchers in medieval, modern, and contemporary Italian literature, Italian linguistics, and Italian and Romance philology. The program aims to develop in doctoral students solid methodologies, knowledge, and interdisciplinary research skills that qualify them for careers in academia, high-level teaching, roles of responsibility in cultural institutions, and the publishing sector.
**Educational Objectives:** - Acquisition of a rigorous critical analysis capacity of issues related to medieval, modern, and contemporary Italian literature, - Mastery of methodologies and research tools, particularly IT and digital tools, specific to textual criticism and philology. - Development of advanced competencies in Italian linguistics.

The Art History program aims to ensure high-level education, starting from methodological foundations, in the tradition of art history understood in its medieval, modern, and contemporary developments, and in its aspects related to the analysis of works, documentary sources, and new multimedia technologies. The program aims to develop in doctoral students advanced knowledge and skills, preparing them for roles of responsibility in the world of art research and criticism, high-level teaching, and the management and enhancement of cultural heritage.
**Educational Objectives:** - Acquisition of a thorough knowledge of the history of art, from the earliest artistic manifestations to the contemporary age, - Mastery of methodologies and research tools specific to art history, with particular reference to the analysis of artworks, documentary sources, and new multimedia technologies. - Development of advanced skills in art criticism, curating exhibitions, and enhancing cultural heritage.
**Research Objectives:** - Promote original and innovative research in the field of art history, with particular attention to the following topics: history of painting, sculpture, architecture, decorative arts, and graphics; history of collecting and the art market; museology and enhancement of cultural heritage; art theory and criticism; relationships between art and other fields of knowledge (history, philosophy, literature, sciences). - Contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the enhancement of Italian and international artistic heritage.
