APPLIED STATISTICS IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL SCIENCES – BASIC COURSE

01/03/2026

The primary aim of the Basic Statistics Course is to provide theoretical and practical knowledge of the statistical analyses most commonly used in the health and social sciences. Following an introduction to the fundamentals of descriptive and inferential statistics and an overview of the JAMOVI software, several data analysis techniques will be presented, including: exploratory factor analysis, contingency tables, techniques for group comparisons (t-test, between- and within-subjects ANOVA), correlation analysis, and regression models. No prior statistical knowledge is required: the course provides essential theoretical foundations for each topic and is strongly oriented toward practical application. During the 32 total hours, participants will complete numerous guided exercises using специально prepared datasets. The only requirement for participation is access to a computer with an internet connection on which JAMOVI is installed. As a final assessment, each participant will be required to complete a mini applied project consisting of the analysis of a dataset using one of the statistical techniques covered during the course, including the production of an APA-formatted table, an appropriate graph, and a brief interpretation of the results. The assignment must be submitted within one week of the end of the course.
