Presentation

This PhD Program in Public Law has a very long tradition. It was established more than 30 years ago. It counts eminent personalities as its directors, such as Piero Grossi and Antonio D'Atena. The Program ‘s aim is to train jurists with a strong cultural background so that they develop a high critical capacity of analysis. The Program is meant to increase their ability to be confronted with the many new challenges that the contemporary Public law presents nowadays. This should be done in a cross-sectoral perspective and with a strong international and European approach. The research area of the Program is indeed ius publicum europaeum. This is not to be understood, as some think, as the result of a mere accumulation of diverse sub-areas of Public Law, governed by a strictly specialized partition, held together out of sheer convenience. On the contrary, a true European approach to Public Law should be felt, within this PhD Program, as a common and coherent path that teachers and doctoral students alike should share. In this Program, Doctoral students will have the opportunity to choose for their dissertation from a wide and rich range of research topics: from European Union law to the Philosophy of law, from International law to Constitutional law, from Administrative and Tax law to the History of public law as well as to Employment and Social Security law.
