Annual report

The research activities of the PhD students are evaluated year by year (through dedicated checkpoints) according to specific and progressive criteria:

  • First year – The evaluation focuses on training aspects, verifying the acquisition of basic skills and research methodologies. Students present their work to a dedicated committee composed of members of the Doctoral Board. The assessment proposed by the committee is subsequently reviewed and approved collectively by all members of the Doctoral Board.

  • Second year – The focus is on frontier research topics, assessing the relevance and originality of the projects. Students document their progress through scientific reports, publications in international journals, and presentations at conferences. Again, each student is evaluated by a dedicated committee, and the final judgment is confirmed by the Doctoral Board.

  • Third year – The evaluation addresses the actual research outcomes, including experimental results, publications, and the quality of the PhD thesis. Reports from the thesis reviewers are considered an integral part of the evaluation. Each student is examined by a committee composed of members of the Doctoral Board, and the final judgment is collectively approved by all members of the Board.

This evaluation process ensures a continuous and progressive assessment of students’ skills, scientific results, and the originality of their contributions.
