Educational goals and objectives

ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING The main objective of the PhD course in electronic engineering is the technical and scientific training of highly qualified scientists and engineers in the following thematic areas:
1. Telecommunication and technologies of the internet.
2. Systems and technologies for space applications.
3. Sensor and learning systems.
4. Electronics systems and technologies.
The course is highly multidisciplinary, researches include collaborations with other disciplines such as chemistry, medicine, biology among others. Students will operate in a research context characterized by international cooperation and participation in national and international research projects coordinated by the faculty members of the PhD course.
The course is articulated in research activities and in fundamental courses. Students will be invited to specific courses and seminars related to their research activities. All course and PhD activities will be carried on in English.
The student will be invited to follow the fundamental courses the first year in order to focus the activities of second and third year to the research and to the preparation of the final dissertation.

Admission Procedure

Qualifications assessment The committee will evaluate the documentation submitted by the candidate, specifically the degree grade, any scientific publications, and other qualifications related to the doctoral topic. The research project, which is mandatory for admission, will also be evaluated. The research project will be assessed for: knowledge of the current state of the art, originality and innovative content, clarity and completeness of the presentation of objectives, methodologies, and potential results, feasibility, and relevance to the educational objectives of the doctoral program.

Oral interview The oral exam will focus on the following aspects: general knowledge of the doctoral topics; assessment of the candidate's skills in carrying out the research project; For italian candidates, part of the discussion will be held in English.

For the purposes of selection for the PhD program, the candidate must submit a
project that allows for the evaluation of the research aptitude, the knowledge of recent literature on the chosen topic, and the ability to organize the various phases of the project. The following aspects will be evaluated: knowledge of the state of the art; originality and innovative content; clarity and completeness of the presentation of objectives,methodologies, and potential results; the project's relevance to the educational objectives of the PhD program; and its feasibility with respect to the expertise of the PhD program's teaching staff. The document must not exceed 3,500 words and may be supplemented with images.
