EDUCATION After graduating from the Liceo Classico "Giuseppe Palmieri" in Lecce, she obtained a degree at the Bocconi University in Milan in Business Administration specializing in Non-profit Business Economics and management. Next, she got a Masters’ Degrees in Health Economics and management (Net-MEGS) from the University of Lugano (USI) and a diploma in Hospital Risk Management at the Politecnico Milano. She is currently enrolled in the 2nd year of the PhD in Business Administration, at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata", track in Public Management and Governance. RESEARCH AND TEACHING ACTIVITIES From 2004-2011 she conducted reasearch in collaboration with the Institute for Microeconomics and Public Economics (MecoP) at the University of Lugano and, in the period between 2004 and 2006, she also collaborated with the Health Economics and Management area (at the Centre for Economic and International Studies - CEIS) of the University of Rome "Tor Vergata”. She has published articles and contributed to books on healthcare management. In 2007, she edited a book entitled "Patient Pathways. The Canton Ticino experience", printed in Italian and English versions; in 2013 she edited a handbook of international standards for the accreditation to excellence of rehabilitation centers "Excellence in Rehabilitation (EiR)". Over the years she has been a speaker for healthcare management Masters and continuing education programs (USI, SUPSI, LUM University, Milan Polytechnic, Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna of Pisa, University of Catania, University of Marche). In terms of teaching experience, she also has weekly opportunities in the hospital to present interesting topics to physicians and nursing staff. Fields of interest: management of healthcare organizations; leadership; organizational change and innovation; Performance management systems and quality management tools; strategy and performance management in the public sector. EXPERIENCE Since 2003, she has been working for Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale (EOC), the network of public hospitals in the Swiss Canton of Ticino (in Italian-speaking Switzerland). In particular, since 2004 she has been in charge of Quality and Patient Safety Service for the Locarno Public Hospital. From 2006 to the present, alongside the function of Quality Manager at Locarno Hospital, she has held numerous other managerial positions, both within the EOC and externally, as well as being a member of various multidisciplinary institutional groups on issues related to quality management and appropriateness of care. About her actual job in Hospital, she performs root cause analysis of patient accident claims or about events submitted by hospital employees relating to errors. She handles quality metrics, for example patients and physicians who send patients to EOC hospitals satisfaction, the fall reports and patient readmissions within 30 days of release. She leads operational and strategic projects both for Locarno Hospital and across the entire EOC network and coordinates the audit plan to monitor quality and patient safety in the hospital. Furthermore, the work of her team involves managing all the hospital documentation (policies, procedures, clinical pathways, modules, etc.), managing internal and external communication, and coordinating certification and accreditation programs.
