Paolo Mele is a Full Professor at Shibaura Institute of Technology (Japan), holding a Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences from the University of Genova. He has extensive international experience in research and development of advanced materials for green energy, with a strong focus on thermoelectric and superconducting oxide and alloy materials. He has held academic and research positions at leading Japanese institutions, including Kyoto University, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Hiroshima University, and Muroran Institute of Technology, where he established and managed independent research laboratories. He is the author of more than 120 peer-reviewed scientific articles in international journals, as well as book chapters and edited volumes, and holds patents in the field of functional materials. His research interests include the nano-engineering of materials through the introduction of artificial defects, thin-film growth using state-of-the-art pulsed laser deposition (PLD) and metal-organic deposition (MOD), and the development of thin-film thermoelectric modules for IoT devices and off-grid energy harvesting applications. He has been recognized among the top 2% of world researchers in the Stanford University ranking and has received several prestigious international awards.
