Mauro Chinappi è un Prof. Associato in Fluidodimamica del Dipartimento di Ingegneria Industirale dell’Università di Roma Tor Vergata. La sua attività di ricerca verte principalmente su micro a nanofluidica e le sue principale competenze sono lo sviluppo di modelli teorici e la simulazione numerica. Ha conseguito la Laurea Magistrale in Ingegneria Aerospaziale (2004) e il Dottorato di Ricerca in Meccanica Teorica e Applicata (2008) presso La Sapienza, Università di Roma. Durante la prima parte della sua carriera, il suo interesse principale è stato rivolto alla nanofluidica teorica. Parallelamente, ha iniziato ad affrontare problemi biofisici come il trasporto delle proteine attraverso nanopori. L'interesse per la biologia lo ha portato a trasferirsi al Dipartimento di Scienze Biochimiche unendosi al gruppo di Bioinformatica della Prof.ssa Anna Tramontano (2010) dove ha lavorato sulla resistenza ai farmaci del Plasmodium falciparum (il parassita della malaria) e sull'analisi dell'interazione mRNA-microRNA potenzialmente coinvolta nella Distrofia muscolare di Duchenne. Successivamente, Mauro Chinappi ha lavorato presso il Center for Line Nano Science dell'Istituto Italiano di Tecnologie (2012-2016) sulla progettazione di dispositivi micro e nanofluidici per analisi biomediche. Dal 2016 lavora presso l'Università di Roma Tor Vergata (prima come RTD-B e dal 2019 come professore associato di Fluidodinamica).
