Research interests

Expert in cellular, molecular biology and proteomics, she obtained the Ph.D.in Cellular and Molecular Biology at Tor Vergata university. She developed her expertise studying autophagy and ubiquitin-proteasome system as cellular mechanisms involved in tumorigenesis and in response to infections, mainly working at the National Institute for Infectious Diseases L. Spallanzani in Rome and the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies in Germany. Among most relevant research results, she characterized the molecular mechanisms of AMBRA1 binding with DDB1-CUL4 E3-ubiquitin ligase complex in the regulation of autophagy (Antonioli et al., 2014). More recently, she has characterized how AMBRA1 stability is controlled by the HPV16 protein, E7 in the development of Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinomas (OPSCC), and how autophagy is implicated in the chemoresistance observed in OPSCCs (Antonioli et al., 2020). During the years, she developed a strong experience on molecular mechanism behind carcinogenesis (Antonioli et al., 2020; Cianfanelli et al., 2014; Corazzari et al., 2015; Vescovo et al., 2020) as well as in the analysis of data from proteomics analysis (Altuntas et al., 2015; Antonioli et al., 2014 and 2017; Ciccosanti et al., 2022; Mellows et al., 2017; Mitchell et al., 2019; Montaldo et al., 2021; Reali et al., 2015). More recently, she worked at the National Institute for Infectious Disease, L. Spallanzani in Rome, thus giving her contribution on characterizing the SARS-CoV-2 associated pathology, Covid-19 (Bordoni et al., 2022; Ciccosanti et al., 2022; Messina et al., 2021; Montaldo et al., 2021).
