Luca Persichetti is an Associate Professor of Experimental Condensed Matter Physics at the Department of Physics of the University of Roma “Tor Vergata”, where he is affiliated with the INFN Roma 2 section. He holds the Italian National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for both Associate and Full Professorship in the sector 02/B1 (PHYS-03/A). He obtained his PhD in Physics from the University of Roma “Tor Vergata” and subsequently carried out postdoctoral research at ETH Zurich, including as a Marie Curie COFUND fellow, working in the field of surface and interface science.
His research activity focuses on experimental condensed matter physics, with particular emphasis on surface phenomena studied by scanning probe microscopy and X-ray spectroscopies. His recent work addresses the synthesis and characterization of graphene and other two-dimensional materials, the investigation of magnetic properties of single atoms and nanostructures, and the study of molecular systems and surface reactions. He is the author of about 90 peer-reviewed publications in international journals, including PRL, ACS Nano, Nano Letters and JACS, and has delivered numerous invited talks at international conferences.
Prof. Persichetti has been awarded several international prizes, including the IAAM Scientist Medal, and has obtained competitive research funding as principal investigator and unit coordinator at national and international level. Alongside his research activity, he is actively involved in teaching at bachelor and master level and in institutional and editorial responsibilities. His full publication list is available on Scopus (Author ID: 25936693900), and further information can be found on his institutional webpage (https://www.fisica.uniroma2.it/elenco-telefonico/persichetti/).
