Luca Gili is an associate professor of Ancient Philosophy at the University of Chieti-Pescara, where he teaches courses in ancient philosophy, logic, and critical thinking. His academic trajectory spans several countries, including Italy, Canada, Belgium, and Lithuania. He earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy from KU Leuven (2016), with a dissertation on Thomas Aquinas’s philosophy of nature, after completing his studies at the Scuola Normale Superiore and the University of Pisa.

From 2016 to 2022, he was professeur régulier (associate professor) at the Université du Québec à Montréal, where he directed the undergraduate program in Ethics and Religious. He taught a wide range of courses—covering ancient and medieval philosophy, Aristotelian logic, and metaphysics—and supervised numerous theses. He subsequently held visiting professorships in several institutions, including the University of Genoa, the LCC International University in Klaipeda, and the Lithuanian Culture Research Institute in Vilnius. Since 2024, he has been a research fellow at the Department of Classical Philology at Vilnius University.

His main research areas include ancient logic and dialectic, Aristotle’s philosophy, medieval scholasticism, and the modern reception of Aristotle and Aquinas. He is the author of several books, such as La sillogistica di Alessandro di Afrodisia (2011), Aquinas on Change and Time (2024), and ἕτερόν τι τῶν κειμένων. The Reception of Aristotle’s Logic in Late Antiquity (2024). He has edited volumes and published numerous peer-reviewed articles in top international journals (Classical Quarterly, Ancient Philosophy, Dialogue, Méthexis, Medioevo). He serves as director of the “koinos logos” series (Carabba) and as a board member of Aristotelica and analitica.

Gili has been principal investigator in several funded research projects, including grants from the Fonds de Recherche du Québec and a PRIN PNRR project (2024–2026) on dialogue between ancient philosophy and medicine. His work has been recognized with several awards, including the Vittorio Sainati Prize, the “Veritas et Amor” Prize, and the Marco Arosio Award.
