Full Professor for the field L-Ant/07 (Classical Archaeology) at the University of Cassino and Lazio Meridionale - Department of Human, Social and Health Sciences (since 2023), previously Researcher and Associate Professor at the same University (since 2002). He holds a degree in Classical Studies from the University of Florence and a Doktor der Philosophie (Ph. D.) in Classical Archaeology from the 'Freie Universität Berlin', Germany. He was a research fellow at the German Archaeological Institute in Rome (1993-94), at the Italian Archaeological School in Athens (advanced studies, 1995), and a two-year post-doctoral fellow at the University of Florence (1997-99); he was Associate Research Scholar at the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America at Columbia University, New York (2000), Visiting Researcher at the Université Paris Ouest - Nanterre-La Defense (2015), Visiting Scholar at the Freie Universität Berlin - Institut für Klassische Archäologie (2019). He is a Corresponding Member of the German Archaeological Institute and an Ordinary Member of the Italian National Institute of Archaeology and Art History. His main fields of research are Greek and Roman iconography and sculpture, and the cultural history and archaeology of central Italy in Roman times, with a focus on the late Republic and early Empire.
