I. Personal Background and Qualifications
I am emeritus professor of “Tor Vergata” University in Rome where, as tenure, I have taught Civil Procedural Law for 22 years. Presently, I still keep teaching the same class.
I can rightly say that I am publicly recognised as a distinguished scholar in the fields of Italian and European Civil Procedural Law, Jurisdiction, Private International Law, Arbitration and Administrative Judicial Review.
My scientific and academic credentials are the following :
A. Teaching and research experience
• Graduated Maxima Cum Laude, University of Perugia in 1973
• Assistant Professor, in the University of Perugia from 1977 to 1984 and in the University of Roma “Tor Vergata” from 1984 to 1986
• Former Associate Professor in the Faculty of Economics, University of Naples “Federico II” from 1986 to 1993
• Former Full Professor in the Faculty of Law, University of Catanzaro “Magna Graecia” from 1993 to 21997
• Former Full Professor in the University of Perugia from 1997 to 2000
• Former member of Panel of the European Commission for the drafting and planning of the First Directive on the subject of Consumer’s Class Action
• Former member of the team – directed by late Prof. P. Kaye, Department of Law, University of Wales Swansea, UK – for collective research upon European Case Law on Judgement Convention
• Present member of the (French speaking) International “Groupe de recherche Tarzia” for the comparison of models of Civil Procedure Laws in Europe
• Former Chairman of the International Conference “Consumer Access to Justice”, First European Consumer Forum, Bruxelles, 1994

• Author of more than 200 publications in the fields of civil procedure, arbitration, and judicial review (including monographs, treatises, essays, papers, Encyclopaedia items, case notes), in Italian, English and French
